Research/inspiration
I use sketch mainly as my design tool at work. I use it when I want to play with graphics on my Instagram stories, I use it when I need to design screens or graphics for my school projects or when I work on a big UI projects. First thing what I see when I open Sketch is a Welcoming screen showing me bunch of the previous projects I was working on. It also gives me other options such as open file from templates I never really used those but for the research purposes I opened that up to see what is inside.
After my primary research I did a Desktop research and opened up other apps that have a welcoming screen. These are elements you can find in design programs:
InVision studio - Recent files, Start new file with specific canvas (options: iPhone, iPad, iMac, Blank Canvas), Resources, Tutorials and Open studio button.
Affinity Publisher - Tutorials, Samples, Connect, Create new document
Adobe Lightroom CC - Create new library, Adobe cloud, What's new f
After the desktop research I created list of things I want to display on Welcoming screen:
