"Norwegian Wood" is a book cover project from Penguin creative award. Norwegian wood is a Japanese novel by Murakami. The novel is a nostalgic story of loss and burgeoning sexuality. It told from the first-person perspective of Toru Watanabe, who looks back on his days as a college student living in Tokyo. Most of the other cover design of Norwegian wood is focus more on the visual and the typography are pretty straightforward, so instead of just choosing a typeface for the title of the book and in order to make the title pop, I decided to do a bit of typography work to it. Also, instead of using trees to illustrate the wood, I use the tree ring to represent the tree and putting multiples tree rings to represent the wood.
