Doing research on the film, I came to the conclusion that there is an underlying theme with Baby (Main Character). Those elements being his sunglasses, the iPod, the Subaru WRX Baby drives in the beginning of the movie, and his love of music. Having brainstormed these key items, next, was to create a memorable movie poster. Utilizing thumbnails to generate ideas on how to layout the poster proved helpful. With these thumbnails in mind, I took the one that made the most sense visually and built on it.

Combining the key elements into one cohesive poster was a “eureka type” moment. Utilizing the iPod to represent Baby was a stroke of genius on my part. The iPod housed all these ideas and items in a way that made visual sense. The iPod wearing the sunglasses that Baby uses, those same shades would have a reflection of the Subaru WRX, and on the iPods screen would be the song that you first hear in the movie. All this is happening while the iPod (Baby) is listening to music. While silly in theory, this proved effective.

Looking back on this project made me realize that trying to get the dimensions right for printed media is very crucial. Telling a story through graphical illustration is a satisfying challenge that helped me manage my time more efficiently.

Reflecting on this project helped me come to the realization of the importance of the design process. Researching, brainstorming, and prototyping were critical in coming up with the final design. But as a designer, one is always trying to improve their design to the best of their abilities with the goal in mind being to simplify and clarify.
