Issha Marie is a photographer and food stylist in Vancouver. I am also proud to call her one of my best friends. From her website: "In February 2011, she was helicoptered out of the sea-to-sky highway due to a massive car accident that almost cost her her life. Her life, her universe, her everything… changed." When she visited me in Toronto the next year after a full recovery, I decided to base this series on the period in time when she was unconscious, and essentially, in limbo. Taken with expired rolls of Tri-X, these in-camera double exposures of Issha attempt to capture the recollections she had of her dreams during her period of unconsciousness.
