A friend of mine ordered a comission from me. He wanted a series of tokens for Magic: The Gathering that would represent Storm Counter (the number of spells he cast in 1 turn), and mana counters for 3 colours: Blue, Black and Red (so called Grixis combination). The task was to design them like pages from an alchemist/occult book.

I have added a bit of tarot inspiration to the mix. Here's the Storm Counter:

And here are the mana counters. I wanted each card to have the colour symbol from the cards in the middle and a stone representing each mana. Therefore we have a Sapphire covered in water:

A black diamond with the faces of the Grim Reaper:

And a Ruby hit by the lightnings.

I don't normally do a grphical stuff like this, but overall I'm quite happy with how it turned out
