A typeface I made for my Type and Design Class. I have really long hair, so I was inspired to create a hair-ish looking font. I was also inspired how Gerrel Saunders drew and twisted hair in his hair study. I cut out 4 in.
by 4 in. bristol squares and drew out the outlines of a serif font that I created. From there I sketched out the major forms of the hair and proceeded to ink each of the letter forms. Then they were scanned and editted minimally in Photoshop. The background for the font was made from the backs of the bristol squares.
I really enjoyed working on this and the results!
