Huture - luxury wool collection

When I had finished the 'Huture' collection I thought it would be so neat to make photography in an actual wool shed. The sheep farmer who helped me with this location spent the entire morning with me setting things up.
This tapestry, Journey, is a special one as I have had to go through an especially allocated Maori committee for approval. As the Moko - as displayed - is a highly sacred facet of the Maori culture, the Maori people are rightfully protective on these aspects of their cultural heritage. To get official approval for this design was a great compliment.
If you look up close, you can see the sheep in the background. There were mostly rams here this day, who are significantly more aggressive to be around than the females.
Off the Track: this cushion visualises the moments in life when we choose our own paths rather than the one others pick for us. Following your heart might not always seem logical to others - as long as it makes sense to you.
These images are all taken at an actual wool shed in Tikokino, New Zealand. Though the light wasn't optimal for photography, the rustic atmosphere was totally genuine and authentic.
Where I live, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, turns into a feast of colours every autumn. It is my favourite season of the year, with temperatures still mild to warm but evenings chilly enough for the fire. It always seems a time where I do a lot of thinking, and so this tapestry, Time to Reflect, represents that feeling.
Every cushion has been created with 100% merino wool felt of 2 mm thick. This instantly creates depth and texture, even when keeping designs simple and elegant.
