ZODIAC: ASTRONOMY & ASTROLOGY MUSEUM

PRAGUE MUSEUM BRANDING

BRIEF OUTLINE:

This brief entailed taking a range of ideas from a number of museums and sights in Prague to construct a new design museum, based on an area, discipline, topic, objects etc that could be set anywhere in the world.

I had to propose a new graphic identity for a specialist museum, applied to print, screen, environmental and novelty application along with branding guidelines that reinforce the value and power of the design.

From a study trip to Prague, I was stunned and intrigued by the major Landmark in the city which was the 'Astronomical Clock.' This is where my idea stemmed from. I initially thought of creating an 'Astronomical Clock' museum, however decided to broaden this to an 'Astronomy & Astrology' Museum with a section dedicated to the Clock.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The target audience for my specialist museum is the general public and fanatics of both disciplines aged 16 - 30 years old.

This target audience inspired a modern and contemporary approach to the branding of the museum.

I decided to visualise several pages of the website for the museum, contextualising it onto an iMac.

I wanted to make the small circle on the logo move, when hovered over or clicked on headers on the menu bar. I also included areas for carousel banners on each of the pages which would show imagery relating to the specific topic.

I wanted the designs to the museum tickets to encourage consumers to keep hold of them as a memory or an aesthetically pleasing piece of design they could pin up on a photo board etc. I decided to use a quote related to both disciplines in the museum, making it the main focus on the front of the ticket.
