The Challenge
Based in Toronto, Headstone Brand is a unique apparel company that is reviving defunct brands of the past. They focus on companies that had noteworthy stories, whether through commercial success, an association with famous individuals, or innovations which advanced their respective fields. We were tasked with bringing these unique stories to life in a full line of apparel illustrations. The challenge was to pay tribute to the bygone brands while still appealing to a modern audience.
Our Approach
Due to the historic nature of the featured companies, we started by thoroughly researching the brands and learning their stories. We then pinpointed the most interesting aspects of the companies and created concepts sketches for the recommended executions. The final result was a series of apparel illustrations that were visually eye-catching and told a narrative. Crisp lines paired with a distressed texture created a balance between modern and vintage.
