"War of the Worlds"

Materials: Plaster of Paris, plastic army figures & accessories, modeling paint

This piece is a playful one compared to some of my others, attempting to portray a battle between plastic army men and the infamous "Space Invaders", but in more of a gritty, realistic battle scene as opposed to a more cartoonish one. The plaster was painted with modeling paints made for gaming miniatures, which gave me access to a very realistic military color palette as well as some more bright and fantastical shades.

I have little else to say about this one, except for that it was extremely fun to make, and I hope it brings a wry nostalgic smile to people's faces as much as it does to my own.
