Honey Lavender Arts Trifold Brochure

For my GIT 250 Intro to Commercial Print I had to create a trifold brochure for a service or company, so this was the one I made for a fake art studio that I lovingly named Honey Lavender Arts!
First things first! In order for me to jump into a design project I need to know the colors I'm working with, so for this brochure everything is going to be based around the name of the studio. Honey is yellow/gold and lavender is purple. Pretty self explanatory but that doesn't mean I shouldn't play around with the variations of each color. The bottom swatches of the image are the final color scheme that I went with and from there I needed to come up with a design. Once again this was easy; I went with hexagons!
I incorporated these hexagonal shapes into my background and of course the logo, which I created in Adobe Illustrator. If it weren't for the shapes and colors the studio name would feel pointless, but when it comes to design you really want to convey the look and feel of a business/brand.

Apart from the designs itself I also took all the photos for my project and before you ask, yes, all those art supplies and pieces of art are mine. What can I say? I'm a creative person!
For my first time making a brochure in InDesign it was a lot of fun and a totally new creative experience. As much as I love what I came up with there are still things I'd like to improve upon. If I had more time I would have created a map that fits in with the color scheme of the brochure, rearranged elements on the cover so it flows better, and created hexagonal frames for the art to further push the bee aesthetic. And maybe I would've thrown in some cute bee vector art throughout the spread too....

No matter what though I'll always 'bee' proud of what I have accomplished and I can't wait for more design opportunities!
