This project challenged me to create a maquette that included a 3" cube set above a 6" x 6" x 1" base on a structure of my own design. My sculpture was constructed out of basswood, and was inspired by the word "anxious." I split the basswood using a hammer and a screwdriver as a makeshift chisel, creating these rough, organic shards. The cube is impaled on one of the taller shards to add to this sense of anxiety.
