for Vestel in 2016 & 2017
Awards:
Design Turkey Good Design Award 2018
PlusX Award 2019
Good Design Award 2018
*the designed components were the parts of the awarded dishwashers.
Design Background
—
The objectives of the projects were renewing dishwasher interior according to the market dynamics for VESTEL brand itself, SHARP Europe and ODM customers. The components should follow the design language created by the parts that were recently designed and have a competitive look. Each one of the accessories’ design phases took place in different time periods. Their processes followed one another. There are 3 main components in this project:
Triplewash—
mini spray arm
designed in 2016
—
The pre-designed spray arm and cup holder were taken into account. Coherency between parts was curicial.
Ideation
—
I interpreted and implemented the characteristics of the existing parts into my ideation and generated convenient forms and mock-ups to find out the best proportion.
Final Product
—
Triplewash spray arms provide a better and efficient washing performance for saucepans, trays by its multiple nozzles. The triange form and the circular metal cap support the harmony between components. Moreover, the sheet trim on the top gives a sleek look to the product. There are 2 different marking applications for the metal cap one is laser marking for the Triplewash logo and logo type together and the other one is press marking for the logo only.
Rack Handles—
designed in 2017
—
The number of renewed interior elements increased so the handles must tone in those elements. Besides the importance of the design language I made a table of possible metal addon positions to help me to discover as many alternatives as possible.
Ideation
—
I focused on exploring how metal addons could be placed on handles. To get a minimal and modern look it was important to have wide metal area in front. I tried out angled cuts to be compatible with interior elements. And the other potential relations between interior elements were taken into consideration.
The low segment handle version and eco third rack were designed according to the selected design.
The low segment handle version and eco third rack were designed according to the selected design.
Final Product
—
The wide use of the sheet metal on the front and the minimal form give the handle up-to-date and competitive appeareance.
Door Inner Panel—
designed in 2017
—
The door inner panel and the wire racks are made to be compatible with each other. If one changes, the other one needs to be changed as well. The upper rack front figure was changed according to the market trends. I was asked to create a new door inner panel which can match with the new upper rack. There were many technical limitations that drove the form.
Ideation
—
The forms were generated under the guidance of the limitations and with the desire of making the whole interior talk the same language.
Final Product
—
The new door inner panel has a sharp and dynamic appearance. There is an inclined surface underside of the dispenser for optional ionizer. Additionally, the button and the icons on the dispenser were studied.
