Where am I? What is this place?

The floating soundhouse
The insights into the unknown
The homely havens
The idyllic fountains
The obscure curve
My first project at UAL, was a group project called 'Where am I?' 'What is this place'. We had to develop a series of 3–5 pictograms to represent a location in London and show the unique personality and identity of each area. The Barbican Estate was my allocated location.
After a site visit and collecting primary and secondary research we quickly realised that The Barbican was different from other spaces in London, particularly the Barbican Centre, which we focused our pictograms on. The Brutalist architecture is obviously what many people love about the Barbican, however we wanted the attention to be on how people behaved, utilised and interacted with the space, as the real sense of community and love of the area was evident to us through them.
