3D printed trash bin made from recycled plastic waste

STEREOPLASTIC
from mono-use plastic waste
to the base material for 3D printing

The outcome of my bachelor thesis is a city receptacle entirely made from the plastic waste found in the nets of fishermen working in the Mediterranean sea.
The bin is a city space trash receptacle dedicated to the plastic waste. It’s material is made from the plastic waste that has been recycled, extruded cut into pellets and 3D printed. The simple and minimal shape encourages an easy user interaction.
3D printed bin is a solution for cleaner and smarter cities, where the plastic waste will not end up in a landfill but will be recreated into an useful object and saves up the costs instead of usage of ordinary materials for urban objects.
The concept is created for covered outdoor/indoor spaces considering the current material capabilities. Further aging studies will give more insights if the material could be used for complete outdoor conditions.
