will it suck?
Weather app for smokers

Rob DePollo & James Newton
CCS Communication Design 2018
The app works by getting weather data based on the user's location. The weather data is then analyzed and scored on a 30 point system in order to determine how much smoking outside is going to suck. Many of the color and graphic elements used in the app were inspired by the appearance of a cigarette.
This project was for an interaction design class. The assignment was about learning to make use of location and weather APIs. When CCS installed a new smoking hut on campus to help smokers stay dry in the winter, my partner and I realized an opportunity to design a weather app that would help smokers prepare themselves for what they will have to deal with when they inevitably have to go outside for a smoke break. This project was also a great opportunity for me to practice coding responsive websites using CSS grids!
