Another year, another penguin book cover. This year I got to work with Penny from MAMMALcreate, she gave me feedback during this project and helped my idea generation. I took a real leap of faith on the styling for this years project, as you can tell by my other pieces of work this kind of thing is not my forte. Nonetheless I jumped in head first and gave it a go. Overall, I really think that the risk I took on the unusual appearance really paid of.
The red circle on the front cover of my design was created by cutting out a circle of tracing paper and scanning it in on a flatbed. This gave a really strange texture that I loved. I knew that I had to work it into one of my projects... and this one was perfect. Like everything, now that I have finished the project I see little things that I would change here and there, but I think that as it is works great as is and shows of the raw emotion that the Norwegian Wood is known for.
