Prinicipia is a project I am participating now about digital textbook for engineering students. The goal is to enable students to select content they want and proceed more multipulation.
This interface takes ipad customer for example, which could be connected with school's network and download documents from currently in-use system for personal purpose.
One major advantage of a digital tool is allowing students to select multiple parameters when looking up information.
(It was before iOS 7 and I was so in skeuomorphic design...)
Another major advantage is how digital tools are connected: The user can easily share collaborative work to his personal account (again, skeuomorphic transitions...)
Principia provides hyperlinks to related definitions, principles and formulas, covering content from different pages, different chapters, even books and courses.
The real final result was programmed and presented on a 55" multi-touch screen to enable collabration among a small group of students. Further study is needed to better understand the collaborative study of engineer students - which is different from humanity and business students and often under a laboratory context.
