Strength rooted in authenticity
Cumaru Raiz is a bold masculine perfume by L’Occitane au Brésil. It’s wooden notes were inspired by the roots of the majestic Cumaru tree, known as the “tree of wishes” on ancient Tupi native legends. From there, we explored the many conceptual meanings of the roots. They go below the surface, unseen. They can be strong, constrictive, powerful – but seek their own subtle and fluid path. They symbolize a connection to the earth, to one’s origins. We chose a mix of raw and polished materials to represent this duality.The earthy shades are paired with black texture areas, adding contemporaneity to the set.
PROCESS – FREE EXPERIMENTATION
after the conceptual research, we gathered natural and urban materials. we mixed them together to create our own set of visual references. the flow of the paint over the paper. the hidden shadows revealed by sunlight. the subtle tones of soil mixtures. the texture of plant-made rustic brushes. that’s how we got inspired to develop the graphic execution for the packaging project.
