Censored Film Stills
Live models and Digital enhancement.
This collection focusses on three images based on scenes from notorious 1970s explotation films: I Spit on your Grave and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. These images were chosen specifically for their suggestively violent nature, these images were created in a photographic studio with live models before being digitally enhanced and reproduced using a variety of mediums. The images were used in a mock advertising campaign for well known brands, office stationery and silk screen prints.
This collection explored not only the powerful effect these images had on its audience but also how that effect changed dramatically when transferred to a different medium. the black humour injected into the advertising campaign and office stationery completely changed the context in which the onlooker viewed the violent nature of these images.
