Un dia / Art Installation

Project of an artistic installation presented for the Festival A Cel Obert of ephemeral interventions, held in the city of Tortosa, Catalonia (Spain). The design has a powerful poetic charge that connects with the concept of Time, the theme dedicated to the Festival.

Un dia (one day) is the representation of a day. The circular structure is designed like a walkway to make evident to the assistants while walking through the passage of time following its route through the color changes applied to each section.

The ephemeral intervention is projected to be installed in a historic cloister of Tortosa.
The structure is lightweight and is made with wooden slats two meters high. Through an elaborate overlay of the slats creates a joint that acquires strength and resistance at the same time that creates an interesting wood framework of unusual beauty.

The structure is covered at the top with four strips of tulle fabric of different colors, since it has a semi-transparent composition and allows to visualize the sky through it. Thus, it is really possible to create the illusion that the sky changes color.

The circular construction symbolizes the passage of time. Walking through the structure, public will be conscious of the circular movement of a day and the pass of time.
