Tecton Energy Services, formerly 1st Rate, is an energy company based out of Canada. When they decided to rebrand, renaming was part of the scope, however, they had no ideas. I came up with the name Tecton as I associated the tectonic plates similar to the act of fracking. The various concepts presented to the client played with the visual concepts of fracturing in geometric typefaces. With some modification to the original design, the settled on the logo signature in which lines throughout the icon represent the layers of the earth.
