Gender-based violence against women and girls is a serious global pandemic. At least one in every three women suffers some form of sexual or physical abuse in her life. Violence against women is a violation of human rights and has serious social and economic consequences. In fact, research shows the financial cost associated with such violence amounts to $1.5 trillion globally.
The objective of the ‘Yeh Ghalat Hai’ campaign is to bring to light and contribute to the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence. The ‘Yeh Ghalat Hai’ campaign can be found across multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. The campaign seeks to educate and create discourse among Pakistanis on the social and economic costs of violence against women and girls, as well as provide legal education and resources for survivors of GBV.
