Mythical Cities

  • Mythical Cities
Some years ago I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Naples with an architecture scholarship and during my time there I was able to visit the ruins of Pompeii, which left a great impression on me. During this trip I also discovered the amazing work of Aldo Rossi and Giorgio De Chirico and since then I have wanted to explore and reinterpret their work on the theme of cities that were “lost in time” and had a strange quietness like Pompeii has.

I always thought it was also very interesting the fact that the Neapolitan bay / region I was visiting had been the birthplace of different greek myths and their mythical beings, like an entrance to the underworld in Averno lake, oracles and sybils, sirens, etc. And I guess that is why eventually some mysterious creatures and characters started inhabiting the blocks and buildings I was drawing.

Thank you very much for reading, Hope you enjoy them !
