Very few historical figures fascinate me as much as Fernando Pessoa—arguably the pioneer Portuguese modernist author—does. Despite having produced what is now known to be one of the vastest bodies of work in the history of portuguese literature, Pessoa has published but one book of his own during his lifetime, aptly entitled A Mensagem (The Message).

Building on the idea of Pessoa's poetry being frequently divided into Pessoa-himself and his numerous heteronyms (of which three are widely regarded as authors in their own right), I decided to pay an humble tribute to the man, by designing and producing a double-faced book, which can be turned inside out and read as either an anthology of Pessoa's orthonym work, or a collection of his heteronym's most relevant writings. A single batch of 100 numbered copies, printed and assembled by hand, was produced.
