OLAS
The main concept of my project is divided into 3 categories: the ocean, the industry, and the interaction of the users, all these can be found in Galveston City. The way I express the concept in my building is; the representation of a physical wave through my roof system. The program variation creates multiple gathering spaces through the building that encourage the users to interact with each other. The users expected in the building are visitors, residents and ship guests, it is a link between multiple user types and the building.
The site is located in front of a very cultural and culinary area of Galveston, the Pier 21. Among these spaces are included: The Elyssa, Galveston History Museum, a hotel, and several restaurants.
Floor Plans
The sectional quality of the building, shows the different variety of moments it gives to the users to interact.
The industry is represented in the different materiality along the building; the pre- cast concrete in the walls, the parametric system in the roof is created by welded steel beams that align with vertical supports through the building that function in both support and design, frosted glass is used to seal the polygonal openings through the room to prevent over heating. The steel also serves as day-cooling by saving low temperatures at night.
