Banjarese Typeface

My final major project, making a Display Typeface inspired by Sasirangan motifs. Sasirangan is a traditional South Kalimantan fabric with distinct Banjar motifs. The meaning is derived from the Banjar word sirang or menyirang meaning “to stitch together” which illustrates the delicate process of hand stitching and weaving of the traditional fabric. Amongst the most distinct motifs of Sasirangan fabrics are: Iris Pudak, Kambang Raja, Bayam Raja, Kulit Kurkit, Bintang Bahambur, Sari Gading, Naga Balimbur, Kambang Tampuk Manggis, Kangkung Kaombakan, Kambang Tanjung, and many others.

This typeface adopts from Sasirangan motifs, where the representative motifs are inserted into typeface anatomy. so that it becomes a solid typeface and can be represented sasirangan.
