My inspiration for this project came from my dear friend from Japan who will begin working at a bank after graduating from university this year 2019. I created her monogram with her professional career in mind, but for personal use.
The kanji characters in her name 美波, separated as「mi」and「nami」, means beautiful wave, which gave me the idea for the curves along the M and K.
I included the yellow dot of the letter "I" to represent her home, land of the rising sun. The shades of turquoise and yellow-orange were created using the coordinates of Kyoto, Japan, then converted into a matching Pantone Color code.
