(Fluctuating Genders)

Fluctuating Genders was largely based on research about materials as expression of gender identities and the local fashion system, that resulted in a series of body elements alongside with a book containing the design research analysis and the entire design process.

Fluctuating Genders allowed me to play with preconceptions about gender roles and its rules that affect the way we may look at masculinity or femininity. With the conducted research, I developed a personal criticism to gender as a social construction, turning the project into a social awareness that was developed under the design thinking and its tools. As a result, I decided to use those constructions that dictate how to act depending on gender roles, as insights to create concepts that ended in the design of body elements that produce changes in essential parts of the body, transforming the performativity of gender.
