GF Smith - Client Brief

This brief was set by one of our tutors and the midlands representative for GF Smith. The brief was to design a series of greetings cards that celebrated an occasion ( But it could not be a birthday, christmas, easter etc) and also to brand the cards, either in a pack or point of sale display.

For my range of cards I chose vintage travel as my theme, so someone could send a farewell cards to family friends id they are moving house, going on holiday or moving abroad.

This is the packaging for my cards. The belly band holds everything together. The brand/ name of the company would be called 'The Vintage Card Company'.
I chose to make my packaging look like a suitcase with a simple belt to secure the box.
This shows the whole range of my greetings cards together in situe.
Development of Greeting Cards
To improve my card designs, I stripped back to the original scanned in paper cut and using photoshop, used a series of textures and techniques to give them the look of a vintage photograph. I am much happier with these designs because before i tried too hard to make them rough and old, but the images were unrecognisable, where as now you can still make of the image and the paper cutting.
Development of packaging
The development of the packaging included adding small images of the designs I used for the greeting cards. I researched old fashioned suitcases and the majority were covered in old stamps.

This idea wouks much better, and with the logo printed on a tag, adds to the theme, where as before the belly band was just too basic and didn't really make the packaging stand out as well as it does now.
