PROCESS:
After trying out working with different colours, and getting feedback from Paul Wong -the artist who was collaborating and mentoring our class- I finally decided to go with the shades of brown and yellow as I felt like it matched more with the effect of the past I was trying to go for. The sepia like tones matched more with depicting the past where the mother is writing the letters.

As for the son, I used the colour blue to express the son’s emotions, where he reads his mother’s letter. I have tried to make subtle changes in the background where it shows the changes in the house over the years.

I have used yellow to highlight things to focus on the illustrations. The mother and the letter have been illuminated as the mother writing the letter is a moment that has been turned into a memory later on after years that the son looks back at.
