About the project
This project's goal was to design a brand identity for a company "Art Bulb Studio" owned by an artist Ada Gurevich in Alameda, California. The school offers group and individual art classes for children and adults.
My role on the project
I designed a logo and brand identity for the company. Wrote a promotional artist statement for Ada (copywriting).
The problem
The owner of the studio described her art creation process as a light bulb suddenly lighting in her brain, when ideas start popping in her head and then recreated by her on the canvas. She wanted the logo to represent her creative thinking.
Brand identity development
The target audience of the studio are school aged children. Therefore, the choice of colors for the brand needed to be bright and eye-catching, but not overpowering.
The final design
The final design of the logo is shaped as light bulb lit with a bright yellow color with a painting brush inside representing the wire. The bulb is a creative idea, and the paintbrush is the medium to turn the idea into reality.
Artist Statement
Ada Gurevich is a pop-surrealism artist based in California. She was drawn to art since childhood, spending hours every day drawing imaginary worlds and scenes. But it was only when she was in her 40s, that she finally took a leap and went on to pursue a professional artist career.
Ada loves experimenting with bending reality and creating surreal eye-catching portraits. Her big-eyed dolls each have their own personalities and styles. They might not be real, but they display authentic emotions and genuine feelings that touch the viewers and invoke their imagination.
Today Ada is a successful artist and a talented teacher. She describes her painting process as a bright lightbulb suddenly turning on in her brain, spreading the light everywhere, transforming creative ideas into paintings. Ada enjoys sharing her passion for art with her students and encourages and guides them in the process of discovering their own unique artistic style.
Ada had several open studio events and currently preparing for her first personal art show.
