As a lover of rugby I have played for my local team Gala Rugby since the age of 9. Playing for every age grade, from Junior, to School, to Semi-Junior and now the Senior 1st XV.
Gala Rugby is a club with a great history. Founded in 1875, Gala Rugby is home to some of the best teams in the borders, past and present, with the 1XV currently playing in the Tennent's National League 1. In recent years they have won the RBS Cup in 2012, the Kings of the 7s Series in 2015, and the Border League in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Gala Rugby has a large following in the town and across the entirety of the Scottish Borders. When I was approached by the club to design and implement a brand new website for them, it was clear from the first meeting that public communication was going to be the focal point going forward. The new website puts news and communications at the heart, the latest news articles are featured on the home screen, with club social media outlets being available further down the homepage.
The site isn't bogged down with countless paragraphs of meaningless text, and is instead very visual. A theme that is evident throughout from the homepage right through to the contact section.
The new site opened the club up to new possibilities such as, an online club shop - allowing the customer to shop club merchandise 24/7 and online membership renewal, supporting the club.
The website was designed and delivered within the desired time-frame and consistent communication between both Gala Rugby and myself ensured the site was delivered as both parties wished.
I stay in contact with the Club Manager to ensure the club are confident and able to maintain the website for the foreseeable future.
I also revamped the clubs social media outlets and applied a fresh take on the existing brand.
