Long Board Project

Long Board Design Project
Here is the base of my long board design project. Both of the long boards started out like the normal colored one on the top, but since the theme of this project is duality, I decided to leave one normal and to sand and stain the other.
Next comes the process of the vinyl. The Vinyl was cut using a Cricut maker, the Cricut is a device which allows precision cuts to any art. There is a program that goes with it where we selected what we wanted the Cricut to cut and it made those out of the plain vinyl

After the design is cut onto the vinyl, then the transfer process from the Cricut to the skateboard begins. This involves taking the design off of the sticky sheet used to cut the vinyl in the Cricut. Then peeling out the design, then applying the design onto the skateboard carefully and watching out for bubbles or loose ends in the application process.
After one application, here is the result of the first board. The next board is just rinse and repeat for all of the steps listed above expect now in different colors.
Lastly here is the overall project, finished. Both skateboards turn out great, they both embody what duality means to me and are able to showcase that through the simple designs of nature and city. The background that the skateboards are mounted on is a 4x4 from The Home Depot, then cut down to 48" x 28" and painted white by hand. Then each board is mounted with a screw which holds it to the wood and a spacer to create a depth of field. I really enjoyed the way that the skateboards turned out. The design is minimalist, yet still gives just enough detail for a clear image to be shown.
