Through the Window

This Memory lab exibhit of mine, was based on shared memories represnted using a window and a reflective surface.
For my first exibhit I recreated a memory I shared with my school friends from Rishivalley, on our way back from Rajasthan.
It was around 7 in the evening, and I was looking out of the window while my recent classmates were singing their previous years class song which I wasn’t around for. I couldn’t help missing my previous school as I looked out of the window feeling a little alone. A friend of mine called out to me and said they were singing for me and they continued singing, it was enough for me to feel like I now had another place I belonged to.
I picked a window as my object and a toy train going around in circles and had an reflective transparent sheet on the window, with an audio recording of a poem I had written, playing over headphones.
The response I got for this thrilled me. Everyone who sat down put on the headphones and looked into the window, felt like they could relate to what I was feeling, this need to belong, and recognizing being belonged. Somehow everyone had a memory that had to do with trains and windows and I was extremely glad to have recreated this experience for them .
