Lullaby | Collapsible Baby Crib

LULLABY
Baby's Crib

Indian families associate a lot of emotion with their baby's first piece of furniture. It is generally preserved by the family so that it can be used for the subsequent children and can be passed over generations.
It needs to inspire confidence in the parents by being stable and sturdy and should offer a practical solution to a home's space saving needs.
The crib draws inspiration from the traditional Indian cot. A Teak wood frame, hand woven with the traditional Rattan weave, makes the basic structure of the cot. The frame is made using the typical Japanese Tenon and Mortise wooden joints. The side panels are made using bent WPC (Wood-Plastic composite) panels.
To suit the Indian sentiment of sleeping alongside one's baby, the side panel can be folded to allow the crib to be connected to the parents' bed.
Once the baby outgrows the crib, it can continue to live with the family as an Ottoman.
