Open/ Close: a dictionary of me

Using the format of a dictionary, I examine 52 words that sum up my philosophy and perspective of this world. The immaculate gate-fold book unravels into two conjoined books with black and white typography and illustrations. The first book, Open, starts from the front and the second book, Close, starts from the back.

Both books define similiar words. Left: Open. Right: Close.
Each section mirrors and complements each other as the reader flips through the pages. Each section is further divided into three chapters based on the structure of the cosmic universe: the surrounding; the corporeal shell; the inner being.

Open: the rational explanation of words. "It contains everyone's interpretation of words and languages. The seemingly sensible definitions provide a rational and uninteresting take on words that constitute my surroundings, my physical shell and my intangible spirit."

Close: the metaphorical interpretation of words. "The emotive meaning of words can be described as the unique translation of the mechanical gears of language into a sensual and fluid metaphor. In this distionarytitled Close, the senselessness of 52 words are imbued with new richness and melodies through the nuances of illustrations, metaphors and poetry."
