Gorilla Doctor is an international wild animal protection group, operated by 16 professional doctors. They are trying to maintain the population of mountain gorilla and help them to get away from any of risk; also their research could help in the human health-care field. The core concept for the new brand identity for Gorilla Doctor was mainly inspired by the name itself, as it gave a sense of safety to people, so we tried to create a logo which could clearly deliver that kind of perception. The logo design was used negative space and subtly combined a gorilla’s silhouette and stethoscope to create a substantial visual impact; It could be considered as a great way to capture people attention and make them think twice. We have also keep the same typeface from Gorilla Doctor, it creates a visual balance and perfectly match with the new logo.
The idea of these green geometric pattern design was came from the natural habitats where gorilla could be found, such as prairie, bamboo grove and jungle forest. We tried to convert all these natural elements into a simple and geometrical shape, it could be applied on the future application system and expressed in the simplicity and dynamism of the new visual identity.
We were trying to give a caution for people about the extinction of gorilla, so we tried to make a series of different advertising poster which mixed with the new logo and geometrical pattern we made. The poster showcase a gorilla blend in three different habitat pattern, to create a visual and perception illusion effect, which could easily see from a distance but not close.
