CH2M is a global engineering and project delivery company that provides consulting, design, construction, and operations services for corporations, and federal, state, and local governments. A key part of the firm's success comes from its technology practices, which provide specialized expertise in North America and across the globe.

But catching the attention of CH2M’s 20,000+ colleagues can be a challenge given the firm’s size and footprint. In the age of PowerPoint poisoning and email overdose, the CH2M Water Conveyance & Storage Practices brochure provides a tangible, tactile way to connect. The goal was to help internal CH2M staff learn more about the company’s resources for providing solutions to some of the world’s most complex and expensive problems: moving and storing water.

The brochure design features an eye-catching intake and pump station on the Sacramento River in northern California (some of the extensive migrating salmon architectural theme elements of the project are visible in the fish mobiles on piles and the fish scales on the intake panels).

Generous use of white space, simple line art illustration, and a water cycle infographic allow ease of browsing/skimming, while contact names and photos reinforce the connection between the practices and the people behind them.

The design includes a pocket for inserting additional, practice-specific fact sheets as well as a business card slot. The final product was printed on a four-color digital press using a gloss aqueous finish.

Feedback on the brochure has been overwhelmingly positive, with CH2M staff commenting on the “striking cover photo”, on-brand artwork, and high-quality printing.
