I call the underlying shape a "pyramism" — its a simple shape based on a symmetrical x-y plane. Each quadrant is drawn with lines connecting equidistant coordinates, e.g. top left quandrant: (-1, 4) (-2, 3) (-3, 2) (-4, 1) and so on. This creates the curved edges. Then I color them in.
Experimenting with a tricolor color scheme w/ frame & mats to match. Hangs on the wall as a diamond shape. Sharpie markers didn't hold up very well.
All drawings done freehand.
