What is Skyforge?
A highly-stylized free-to-play AAA Sci-Fi Fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game featuring exciting dynamic combat inspired by console action games, set in a brand new universe of gods and heroes, who use futuristic technologies to fight off incredible creatures and protect their planet against space invasions. The strongest of the heroes will take their path from a young immortal to the Great God, ascending to the climax of glory and head the Pantheon.

This update contained a new feature “Pantheon Academy” which was allowing new players to start playing high-level content earlier.
Goals:
- Attracting new players.
- Returning the players who had left the game.
- Returning the players who had left the game.
Solution:
This whole feature was just a new game mechanic. No any new visual content or new story.
So - if you don't have a story - do it yourself. It was decided to create an emotional, heartbreaking mini-story with a strong call to action.
Of course we could just make a classic promo trailer with some "random" footage and text slates. But for this game we'd chosen the way to promote it with storytelling in order to convey the atmosphere of its world to the audience who hadn't played the game yet.
Way of thinking:
We needed to create a character who'd provide our message himself.
Again - it was another way to tell a story from the face of a narrator who is out of the screen. But in this case we wouldn't have had such strong emotions.
We had to describe the character's motivation.
The general goal of the game is protecting the world from invaders. And it's said - motherland begins from your home and your family. Protecting these two fundamental things is the main motivation for most soldiers in a war.
To make the story more heartbreaking - we decided to use pretty classic instrument. Deprive all valuable things from the main hero and you will have the strongest motivation to fight ever - revenge.
As the result - we produced the trailer which satisfied all marketing purposes and was also interesting for the audience itself as a story video.
