The Korean alphabet is called Hangeul. Each letter in hangeul indicates an individual sound or phoneme. Hangeul is an alphabet system made by King Sejong the Great in 1443 during the Joseon dynasty. The Korean Hangeul script had been called the world’s most scientific writing system. Using an alphabet of 28 characters, the shapes have a strong visual aesthetic.
‘sorosi’ is a modern reinterpretation of Hangeul for a contemporary audience. Our designs utilise stylised elements from the 14 consonants of Hangeul to create intricate yet balanced patterns that draw on Korean heritage and tradition.
