Some say that travelers on the road are overly sensitive, their emotions stirred by a mere path, their tears flowing at the sight of a cloud.
China, Dunhuang

Encountering the first period of emptiness in my life, I decided to once again bring along my dusty old companion, attempting to chance upon a storm in the Dunhuang desert, but to no avail. During the week spent in the company of scorching sun, I unexpectedly stumbled upon a surrealistic reality.

My initial visit to Dunhuang was inspired by a folk song, with lyrics that went, "I've seen a storm beneath the desert." For the following days, this image lingered in my mind, persisting for a long time. Until one serendipitous moment, I decided to bring my camera in search of that mental image.

The only way to reach the location for photographing was by riding. Unlike commercial attractions, the entire route was essentially desolate. The first half was paved with asphalt, but the latter half was nothing more than a narrow path trodden by villagers leading camels, a path carved out year after year in the desert. Riding in the desert was both challenging and unforgettable. You needed the help of the locals to familiarize yourself with the area. Consequently, few tourists could be seen here. Through interactions, you could feel that genuine kindness and warmth that is often lacking in our current lives.
