Space, 2013
This work consists of the shapes created by the space in between two people, cut out but left in situé within the frame. It highlights the strange and unpredictable nature of social interaction. The shapes vary in width and seemingly random contours allow us to imagine who these people are, why are they stood this close – or indeed this far apart – from each other. Do they know each other? What are they doing? Does their location dictate their distance? Or have they chosen to stand that close? The visual impact of the images as a series is captivating and intriguing, with the nature of the images not immediately apparent, inviting you to study, infer and interpret.
