Lava Avant-garde Film Festival is aimed at presenting the achievements of avant-garde filmmakers. Its inaugural edition was devoted to the seminal figure of American avant-garde cinema – Maya Deren. Thanks to Lava Festival artists from Poland and abroad gather in Cracow. It attracts experimental artists working with a variety of media - visual artists, composers, dancers, performers and fashion designers. The purpose of the organizers is to activate creative circles in Poland, to disseminate knowledge about niche cinematography and to promote independent artists.
