The Brief
​Produce a piece of communication that explores and
celebrates the trade of a fishermanusing type and imagery.
 
My response
My aim was to educate people about the true skill of the fisherman. Through thorough research I felt that the true skill of
the fisherman was to have the endurance and determination to go out in varied weather conditions to collect fish to put on our plates. I felt that when we buy fish in the supermarket we do not appreciate the craftsmanship gone into ensuring the fish is ready at our point of requirement. I wanted to create an emphasis of this in my designs to make people appreciate the true skill of the fisherman. I approached this by designing a piece of packaging to be used at supermarket fish counters and a 12 page booklet to be placed within the packaging. The booklet will inform the consumer about the typical day of a commercial fisherman with reference to; the shipping forecast, fishing areas of the British Isles, methods of fishing and
the mileage fish make from sea to supermarket. 

 
The booklet was printed on hand-made parchment paper and is saddle stitch bound using fishing line.
