GOOGLE PIXEL SLATE
Pixel Slate and Pixel Keyboard have been designed to provide an uncompromised work/play experience. As lead designer on this project I worked with PM to defined the brief based on research and market analysis. We wanted a device that can follow you everywhere versatile and pleasant to hold. To achieve this the profil of the device has been carefully sculpted to avoid sharp edges. It has rounded edges on the cover glass and a softly curved aluminum profile.
Thanks to a close collaboration between engineers and ID we optimized the screen-to-body ratio to nearly 80% and choose a best in class display. The device feels great in your hands courtesy of the evenly balanced center-of-gravity, and only 7mm thin for 1.6 lbs. The cover glass with rounded-edges is more resistant than flat glass and the aluminum body makes the device more durable.
