February was Black History Month, and I was asked by the Student Activities Office and Black Student Union to create a poster highlighting the myriad of events planned to create awareness on campus.
The only creative requirements were that it somehow involve Africa, and that it feature the Pan-African colors. The challenge in this poster was the massive amount of copy that I was supplied with, so it became an exercise in typographic hierarchy. Positive response to this poster was tremendous, and BSU could not have been happier with the result. The day after the last event, there weren't any posters left on campus because everybody had taken them as souvenirs.
