Pop Mie Illustration & Dress 2017
This is a Pop Mie themed artwork that involved an illustration as well as a dress that I designed for a Visual Arts exhibition in 2017. The inspiration for my doing this was derived specifically from Andy Warhol’s painting of Campbell Soup Cans, with a Pop Art approach that he adopted in his work. My painting illustrates Pop Mie cup noodles in different flavours, representing a prominent mass produced food product in Indonesia. In addition, I adopted this Pop Mie illustration as the pattern for the dress that I designed for this exhibition. This set of artwork aims to portray the crucial role that this particular cup noodle plays in the Indonesian culture, as well as a way for me to channel my Indonesian heritage.
