Concept for The Oceanic is to use free-hand strokes as an anchoring identity to emphasise the effects that humans leave on our climate. As global warming is caused by humans, only the human race can reverse its damages. Therefore, the use of these free-moving strokes showcases the humanistic side of the exhibition.
The hand drawn waves act as a secondary graphic to the visual identity. It also represents the natives of the island groups who can draw these strokes using their fingers. Hence there are subtle integrations of the local natives and the ocean in the collaterals.
